Amiri Baraka represents the African Americans and has conducted a number of events for the rights of people belonging to his race. Black History: A Struggle for Self Determination and Revolutionary Democracy is one of them. Baraka through this event brought on table, the issues faced by Africans Americans for an open discussion and also talked about their history in detail. In another event, Funk Lore: Black History Music, he unveiled the reason for his firm belief in jazz music’s relation with African American community and also talked about the relationship of music with religion, culture, society and literature. Apart from this, performances by Blue Ark have also been praised for traditional jazz music.
