Amiri Baraka

The political activist and accomplished writer Amiri Baraka devoted his life to defend the rights of African Americans through his poems, essays and dramas. Most of his writing pieces were subjected on racism and detailed the culture and literature of the black community. Some of the prominent ones include, Funk Lore: New Poems, The Music: Reflections of Jazz and Blues and New Music, New Poetry. Also his work as a Jazz critic is commendable.
